Testimony of Leaving Islam
I left Islam after practicing for 16 years because the Quran has numerous errors and is not a source of morality. The errors in the Quran, when I first converted, was an inconceivable idea because the book had the "original" language. This was purer than the multiple translations for the Bible and the errors within the Torah. However, with maturity, I continued to develop my critical thinking skills although I never applied it to the religion. I was too busy learning Arabic, Quran, Hadith, the Sunnah, etc so I never looked at the book although I had misgivings from some of the Hadiths. I really started to think something was wrong when the Detroit bomber (Muslim from Nigeria) was caught and then the harassment came. I had to cancel an overseas flight because every Muslim male became an "undeclared" suspect in terrorist. I really did not care about that, I just wanted to know what would drive a person to do that. Now I know, across the Muslim world, especially the Gulf countries, you have scholars constantly vilifying people that live in the West. They make NO distinction between Muslim and non-Muslim and I have seen videos that refer to Westerners as gay-loving, drug using, sex-having, bestiality practicing people (search youtube, you will find them). I really thought that was unfair. So I was just wandering through youtube and starting exploring the atheist arguments which a lot of those guys believed that humans should work to better the lives of humans. I had never heard of this concept from any of the major religions, all actions were to please God and our existence was just a vehicle to get to Paradise. So after more research and critical analysis, I've concluded that religion is man-made and if God exists, we have no way of knowing so I act as though he doesn't.
