Mother

Zubeidat Tsarnaeva is wanted in the US on 2012 felony charges of shoplifting and property damage in Massachusetts. In 2011 she was added to a federal terrorism database after Russia contacted the CIA with concerns that she and her son, Tamerlan, were Islamic militants. She also talked about jihad with her now-dead son in 2011 recordings captured by Russian authorities.

Widow

Katherine Russell Tsarnaev is Tamerlan Tsarnaev's widow. Authorities believe she had some involvement in the Boston Marathon bombings. She contacted Tamerlan after the FBI released photos of the two suspects, and an al Qaeda magazine was found on her laptop, along with traces of explosive residue throughout her home. She also stopped co-operating with authorities after the news of DNA evidence found on the detonated bombs not belonging to her. She has previously been arrested for shoplifting.
