Testimony of Leaving Islam

I lived in the Kingdom of Bahrain from birth (1992) till the age of 15. I have performed Umrah (short hajj) five times in my life. The last time was in the year 2000 (aged 8) with my parents. I then moved to the US for about a year.

My family is extremely religious. My maternal grandfather (journalist and former ambassador), professionally was the chief Editor of a famous Bangladeshi daily newspaper. He is also the English-Bengali translator of the books, 'Bible, Quran and Science by Maurice Buccaile', 'The Origin of Man by Ahmed Didat', and many others. Moreover he was awarded as "One of the 5 greatest Muslim Journalists", in the year 2000 by 'Saudi Tribune Daily'.

My parents always motivated me towards religion (Islam). But suddenly after coming to Bangladesh(at the age of 15), I joined ' British School', Dhaka, in it's every occasion and ceremonies I was chosen to recite the Quran at the opening. After about a few months later, I met a soil scientist named Dr. Hamdan, a UNDP agriculture-department worker. In a tea stall somewhere near my home at Mohammedpur, Dhaka. Occasionally we used to chit-chat about agriculture, economy, politics and so on. But a day he asked me 'Did you observe politicians are now visiting Mecca for Hajj?', to gain trust from the voters, that he is a Haji/Alhazz(performed Islamic pilgrimage, initial name), so people will blindly just vote him for his religious behavior and performance.

Then he questioned me, about my religious views, I just replied him that, I performed Umrah 5 times and I am an occasional performer of prayers. He replies:OHHH! REALLLY!(in an astonishing maneuver) YOU'VE ALREADY VISITED THAT *'Black Box'*?, then sorry I must stop talking to you, I don't talk to such people who visits that 'Black Box' and believes in scientific fairy-tale books which's names starts with a letter 'Q' or 'B'. He was not nervous, as he knew that I am pretty soft minded.

Since that day onward I erased the blind faith of my mind towards religion, then started to think freely, by questioning me to myself:

  • Is Kaaba just a 'Black Box', if not then what ? The black stone Muslims kiss and pray towards, it is just a meteorite.
  • If God is that powerful to create the whole universe with planets and galaxies, then why did he just send me books to introduce himself to me?. Which are just available to buy, in libraries and bookstores.
I now do believe, “Books written with ink, can never an evidence of any supernatural nor powerful object”. But if you are a believer of superstitions the book itself will succeed, to conquer your mind in an unknown prison.
  • Why didn't god install the belief that he exists, in my brain, if he is the one and only(sole or Al-Khaliq-in Quran) who created me?
  • If god is one and only/sole(none created him), can't the universe get automatically created by the 'Big Bang' or by nothing?
  • If I see an empty bottle and I am compelled by it's 'air volume' to believe that, water exists in it, and then if I open the bottle cap and find a piece of paper in the bottle, where it's written-|'THERE IS NO WATER, BUT H2O EXISTS', 'AND THIS BOTTLE IS IT'S MESSENGER(Peace be upon it)|and if you don't believe, I am gonna freeze you!Is not this a type of god's attitude?
  • According to the Quran only followers of Allah, will reach the heavens. Fine, the Quran was just published 1400 years ago, before that none knew about Quran nor Allah, So who's fault is it?
  • Quran says:'Take not the Jews and Christians, as your friends(5:5 and 3:118). They are friends to each other'(). Did god give his creation(humans), the ability to read people's minds(polygraph machine), to understand who is a non-Muslim or non-religious. Or did he even write in ones body?. Indeed, the male or female genital mutilation in Muslim children, are done by Doctors(Human), but not god(Allah).
  • Since infancy, while babies just learns to talk, till adulthood. Parents and the society always motivates their children towards religious beliefs to god and angels, also respect the prophets and messengers. Regarding this situation it's very difficult for any human-being to come out of such blind spiritual beliefs, as they have no choice, they can't even think anything outside the box, therefore remains inside.
  • In case of parents:If a mother tells her child-if you do not listen to me, I am going to beat you. =Child violence. On the other hand, If a mother tells her child-if you do not listen to me, god will burn you in the hell fire=Holistic gesture.
    Is not this funny?

And finally a day I lost all my faith towards god (Allah), and turned into an 'Agnostic free-thinker' from being a Muslim(Sunni).

By the way:

In this world none of the atheists can never prove, that god does not exist. As they only have logical proofs. On the other hand, None of the theists can never prove the existence of their god, because they have nothing else than their religious books of pages, as it's evidence. Both of the believers relies, upon a mountain of scientific and philosophical arguments, which are really confusing. So, it's better to be a moderate and agnostic free-thinker.

/Theist/--|Agnostic|--\Atheist\

  • Look at the diagram, the battle of arguments continues among the theists and atheists , but the agnostics are working as shield or border in between.

'The Believer in the Middle' is always neutral and free.
