Testimony of Leaving Islam
I was born into what you and I would consider to be a 'moderate' Muslim family. They always told me to pray five times a day, not eat pork and so on. They always took me to the mosque to learn the Qur'an. I was always one of the top students due to my natural thirst for knowledge. I followed whatever my parents told me. However, I always asked why. They would always give me reasonable explanation to make me content.
One day, I read a book about the dinosaurs and how they existed millions of years ago. I asked my dad about them; I remember him saying, " That is not true." I asked why and he told me that there no evidence. Never was I dissatisfied with one of my dad's answers. There was a fully fossilized dinosaur in the book that was obviously not drawn by a human hand, it was a picture.
My dad was afraid I might know too much and begin to question Islam, so he enrolled me to even more classes. There was one were I was taught about science in the Qur'an. What a joke that class was. It told me that God created the universe in 6 days, how the sky was solid, yet held up by God's will. This garbage that was taught to me conflicted with my high school science courses. What I was taught there made perfect sense and was proven by our experiments. After finishing both of these classes, I began to lean towards scientific teachings.
The 'Muslim' part of me told me to read the Qur'an in one last bid to hold on to my faith. I did, then saw all the backwards barbarism that was in the book along with the laughable 'scientific' concepts that were proven obsolete by modern scientific research. My choice was crystal clear.
