Testimony of Leaving Islam
I have been raised up since I was 2 to become a good and religious Muslim. I have been taught half of the Quran along with the Tafsir, many Ahadeeth and almost every concept there is about Islam. I studied Islam and its content on a daily basis after I came home from school. I also went in the weekend to a special school which contains the education of Islam and Advanced Arabic. I was a completely brainwashed little boy of completely brainwashed parents. I was religious to the point that at the age of 10 I actually held a Khutba once.
As I grew older, I started to think for myself and try to make sense of things that didn't make sense to me. Like how a Muslim who has murdered will go to Hell until he has been cleansed of his/her sins and then is sent to Heaven, while an almost perfect non-Muslim will still be sent to Hell for eternity. And if there is no sin after Kufr, why are there different levels of heat in Hell? These are two of the many questions I had. These questions have been built up since I was 12 and now, after much research, I finally found out the truth.
I feel betrayed and yet relieved. Betrayed because I have spent so much time practicing and learning about everything in Islam. I haven't had a proper childhood because of this religion only to find out that it was all just a bunch of lies. On the other hand, I feel relieved to have found out about this somewhat early. I feel sorry for those who sacrificed their time (and some maybe more) and devoted their single lives for this religion all based on a big leap of faith and ignorance.
The thing that finally made me leave Islam after much research was the Hadith in Sahih Al-Bukhari (3199, 7424) and Sahih Muslim (159, 205) (Same hadith, different "Rewayat"):
Sahih Al-Bukhari:
- The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to Abu Dharr: "Do you know where the Sun goes when it sets?"
- Abu Dharr said: "Allah and His Messenger know best."
- He said: "It goes until it prostrates beneath the Throne. Then it seeks permission and permission is granted to it. Soon it will prostrate and it will not be accepted from it, and seek permission and will not be granted permission. It will be said to it: ‘Go back where you came from.’ Then it will rise from its setting place. This is Allah’s statement: ‘And the Sun runs on to its place of settlement. That is the determination of the Mighty the Knowing. [Surat Yasin: 38]’."
Sahih Muslim:
- The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to the Sahaba one day: "Do you know where the Sun goes when it sets?"
- They said: "Allah and His Messenger know best."
- He said: "It goes until it arrives at its place of settlement beneath the Throne. Then it falls down in prostration and remains like that until it is said to it: ‘Arise! Go back from whence you came.’ Then it goes back and rises from its place of rising. Then it goes until it arrives at its place of settlement beneath the Throne. Then it falls down in prostration and remains like that until it is said to it: ‘Arise! Go back from whence you came.’ Then it goes back and rises from its place of rising. Then it goes without people finding anything wrong with it until it arrives at that place of settlement it has beneath the throne. Then it will be told: ‘Arise! Enter upon the morning rising from your setting place’."
- Then Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said: "Do you know when that will be? It will be when ‘its faith will not avail a soul which had not believed before or earned some good from its faith. [Sûrah al-An`âm: 157]’."
These Ahadeeth clearly show that the Islamic view of the Earth is that it's flat. The Earth is lit 24/7 by the Sun due to the Earth's rotation. But in these Ahadeeth the prophet clearly states that after the sun sets, it leaves and goes beyond the Seventh Heaven ("As-Sama' As-Sabe") to prostrate ("Sujud") under the Throne of God. Believing that the sun leaves after sunset would mean believing that the sun rises and sets at the exact same time for the whole world which is only possible if the world is flat. Then Muhammed makes a reference in the first Hadith to Surat Yasin verse 38, which means that the content of that Hadith is related to verse 38 of Surat Yasin which means that not only the scientific error is in the Hadith but also in the Quran. There can be no error of any kind in anything that is claimed to be divine. And that is why I left Islam.
