Converts to islam.JPG

This article lists converts to Islam who resort to terrorism and other religiously motivated crimes, such as lying and pedophilia.

Introduction

Although terrorism is not exclusive to the Islamic ideology, it should be noted that a disproportionate number of terrorists are Muslims who are motivated by the teachings of Islam. Peter Neumann, a Professor of Security Studies at King’s College in London, has noted that Western converts were "overrepresented among jihadists",[1] and a 2011 study found that 55% of US born Muslims arrested for Islamic terrorist activities were converts to Islam.[2]

Those who were born into Islam may be ignorant of their religion and its actual teachings, therefore they are Muslims who are most likely to interpret Islam in a peaceful way. However, many converts to Islam are more zealous; learning as much about their new found faith as they can. When they do that, the only conclusion that they can draw is that Islam's deity endorses terrorism and rewards terrorists.

If someone is involved in crime and terrorism and they had converted to a certain faith system, it is almost always Islam that the person converted to. The hate for non-Muslims found in Islam is quickly picked up by them. As a result, these converts often turn to the practice or support of terrorism and violence; often showing hatred for their own family, country, and former way of life.

Terrorist Groups

  • Rajah Sulaiman Movement: The group behind the 2004 Manila ferry bombing that killed 116 people in the Philippines' worst terror attack. Founded by Ahmed Islam Santos (aka Hilarion del Rosario), they are a terrorist organization made up entirely of Christian converts to Islam.[27]

European Terrorists

It is believed that between 2003 and 2009 some 60 French citizens had left France to join the jihad overseas.[28] At least 12 have been killed (including two suicide bombers) while another 30 returned home to incarceration in French prisons.[29] Italian intelligence agencies reported in June 2013 that they were monitoring dozens of radicalised Italian converts to Islam. European Union terrorism experts believe around 500 Europeans have fought against pro-Assad forces in Syria.[30] In the same month, sources within the Syrian gorvenment revealed they were holding 300 westerners captured fighting alongside Sunni rebels. Every single one was a convert to Islam.[31]

Involvement in other Crimes

Due to Islam's stance on subjects like lying, pedophilia, and non-Muslim family members, terrorism is not the only crime which converts find themselves embracing when they whole-heartedly accept Islamic teachings.

Prison Converts

One of Islam's main sources for converts are prisons. Many Muslims who resort to terrorism and other crimes (for example; 3 of the 4 Muslims involved in the 2005 Los Angeles bomb plot, and James A. Larry who slaughtered his family for not converting), originally converted to Islam whilst serving prison sentences. In fact, 80% of prisoners in the US who "find faith" in prison, choose Islam as their religion.[32][33] This phenomenal rate of conversion to Islam is not found outside of prisons where it is losing as many adherents via conversion as it gains.[34] Clearly, people with criminal backgrounds tend to find Islam more appealing than the general population.

Converts whose crimes may have not been religiously motivated, or who officially converted at a later date, etc.
