Testimony of Leaving Islam
I was born and raised in an Islamic family in Tokyo. My mother is of Iranian origin and my father, who used to work in Tehran, is Japanese.
I left Islam this April. Islam is nothing but a problem in Japan. Don't eat porks, don't drink, don't bet, don't listen to music (hell!), pray 5 times a day (seriously?), go to mosque every Friday, etc etc... Actually life without Islam would be much more fun for everyone I guess. Now I'm a student of Keio University and I'm enjoying my life a lot. This couldn't be achieved if my life was so strict that I couldn't even drink a beer to enjoy my time with my friends.
In my opinion, this is the reason Islam is not spreading in Japan. There's a lot of misleading topic that saying Japanese people are unfortunate because of atheism. In reality, a lot of young people in Japan are enjoying their lives. Praying? Hell no! We play 5 times a day; wake up at 3PM, go to drinking party (zerojikai) at 4PM, go to dinner (ichijikai) at 7PM, go to second drinking party (nijikai) at 10PM, go to karaoke at 1AM, and go to my friends house at 5AM, playing mahjong etc. In the weekend we go camping, snowboarding, and we play baccarat until 5 in the morning.
Of course this is a very rare case for Japanese students. I have many friends who study in earnest or hope to become entrepreneurs. But still, we are enjoying our life a lot, and I'm enjoying my life to the fullest after I left Islam. This is the most important thing.
I know it's very difficult, but I hope one day Islamic teaching in every Muslim nations will go easier. There are beautiful countries in Middle East which I'd like to visit and work one day, such as Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt. Islam in these countries is like a virus; it is disturbing the peace. I also don't like strict Christian/Jewish teachings, but people in Judeo-Christian countries have managed to get rid of that. It is crucial for Muslims to follow them.
May people wake up and the bloodshed stop in every place of the world where Islam exists.
I'm not a believer in God, but if I had faith in it, I guess Islam is the not the true way God would guide us.
