Testimony of Leaving Islam

Islam, the "religion of peace", as many state, was my view once. Islam was perfect, and I was very stubborn when it came to this idea. Many questions arose in my mind, but I threw them aside and carried on holding to the idea that God is perfect and cannot be questioned. However these questions were quite logical.

For example, when I die, what if I was following the wrong religion? And if Allah is going to burn me in hell, my physical existence would be needed because a soul cannot be burnt. If my physical existence is needed then I would require time, oxygen, gravity and other laws of nature in order to be. So how is that a spiritual world when it is as our physical world? Or why didn't Allah protect, as stated, the other books he sent, why only the Qur'an? Is he playing with us or what? Why is everything in the Qur'an and other books so physical and worldly?

All of these questions and many others played on my mind, but the real question was, why was I born into a Muslim family, and why not in some other family? Or why do some people have money and others die of hunger? To be honest, I have heard some of the most stupidest replies, like God is showing you that you should thank him etc. But why am I special then? A reply that was better than most others was that we are all made with a "distribution plan" and it is just, this left me thinking.

The problem I had with this distribution plan is that it would only be just if it was based on something, but if I was nothing before birth, then what is it based on? And if I was something but I can not remember because I'm not in that realm, then it is unfair for me not to know what it is I had been judged on. It is like throwing a person who has physiological problems in jail for something he did not knowingly do. Onother point to consider is how Islam attributes many feelings to Allah, like God is merciful, forgiving, etc., but we too have these feelings. Does that mean humans are at some level like God or are God? Another explanation they give is that God made man in his own image, but why create him just for worship, worship that he does not need? It's like buying a mobile phone you do not need.

Why are women so undervalued in Islam? If God created man and woman, why make one superior? And suppose you do, why make women aware that men feeling superior to women is wrong? For me a man has no right to be called an owner of his wife or to feel superior to her, or even favor sons over daughters. Also if man is created for women and women for man, why does homosexuality exist? Is it because ultimately they have been created for each other, or has God made a mistake?

There is so much to be said but I think this is enough to say that we are not made by God, because our world, our people, are imperfect to be made by some one so "perfect".
