My Testimony of Leaving Islam
I belong to a religious family of Pakistan. I live in Peshawar, the most religious area of Pakistan. There were times in my life when I practiced Islam regularly, caring about the small details in every Islamic practice. Most of the Muslims don't believe that they can get into Heaven. This is because most of them know that they are not following the complete Islam. Many of them satisfy themselves by saying that they will after all, go to Heaven ( There is a Hadith which says that Finally all the Muslims Go to Heaven, After spending some time in Hell because of their Sins.) At that time of my life I believed that I will go to Heaven, and I will be from those embraced by God and I was working for it as hard as I could. My strong commitment to Islam was in one way the cause of leaving it as well. I believed that Islam is certain and final truth, which means that nothing more can be said after that. It completes everything. The thing which is most evident is that there cannot be any mistakes/problems in it. But I found many mistakes/problems. I was unable to believe two contradictory statements at the same time. i.e. There cannot be any error in Islam and There are many errors in Islam.
It was a gradual process. At first I doubted Islam on moral basis, because it was violating its own morality. But with the passage of time I was able to see things more clearly, I was able to see many logical mistakes. In fact, I was able to see what faith is: i.e. something which is not based on any valid reason. So whenever I questioned someone regarding faith, he fabricated some reasons, but those were not the reasons for which he believed (that is another thing, that those reasons simply lack in strength as well.). Their actual reasons for their faith were the same which I had when I was a believer i.e. "No Reasons", The difference is, that those fellows were unable to question themselves; and that is the only thing which is required to leave a faith in most of the cases. Because faith does not have any ground, your attitude will prevent you from accepting this fact. And if someone can show a slightest of flexibility in attitude, as I did, the truth will simply come up and everything will change. One can give the arguments and things like that but changing someone's attitude takes time. The West has a totally different attitude towards religion than the East, But it took too much time to develop this attitude. My recommendations for other doubters of religion would be just to seek out your own way. You can stand tight only on that way, which you had searched out for your self. Don't just accept the authorities of others, search out your way for your self. Thanks.
